At Yazoo Mills, we believe strong communities are built through compassion, partnership, and showing up for one another in meaningful ways. Recently, we had the incredible honor of visiting Olivia’s House: A Grief and Loss Center for Children in Hanover as they celebrated the completion of the newly remodeled Yazoo Mills Café inside their grief center.
Representing the Yazoo Mills team were Troy Eckert, Winn Eckert, Michelle Trish, Kim Weaver, Aaron Long, and Kevin Wegrzyn, who joined Olivia’s House staff, board members, and supporters for a heartfelt gathering and blessing of the new space.
The moment was both meaningful and inspiring. Together, attendees paused for prayer and reflection over the café and all those who will walk through its doors in the years ahead. Designed to be much more than simply a room, the Yazoo Mills Café was created as a welcoming place for connection, comfort, conversation, and healing.
During our time with the Olivia’s House team, they shared more about their mission as an organization of caregiving professionals and volunteers committed to supporting grieving children and families. Their purpose is to facilitate healing through grief and loss education while providing compassionate support for families navigating bereavement and learning how to cope together after loss.
What stood out most was the incredible care they pour into even the smallest details. One touching story they shared involved a young visitor mentioning how much they enjoyed a unique combination of guacamole and Oreos. Without hesitation, the Olivia’s House team surprised them with the treat — and even tried it themselves, discovering they enjoyed it too. It was such a simple but powerful example of how deeply they listen, care, and create moments of comfort for every child and family they serve.
Their team truly brings warmth, compassion, and embrace into every interaction. It’s clear that Olivia’s House is more than a grief center — it’s a place where families can feel supported, understood, and never alone during difficult times.
Yazoo Mills is deeply grateful to Olivia’s House for inviting us to be part of this special occasion, and we are proud to support a space that will continue offering hope, healing, and connection to our community for years to come.
Thank you to the entire Olivia’s House team and our Hanover community for continuing to make a meaningful difference together.
Enjoy the photos taken of the newly renovated space!
