Achieving Optimal Efficiency: Yazoo Upgrades Recycling Equipment

 

Yazoo Mills has been committed to sustainability and being conscious of our environment for over 121 years. This is not just something we talk about; it has been in our DNA since the start. We are proud to be a leader in environmental sustainability by using only 100% recycled paperboard for all products, and always looking for new ways to reduce our impact on the planet. We continue to reinvest in our equipment, including the latest investment in our in-house waste recycling system. This includes a new shredder, conveyor, and control panel upgrade.

The new shredder upgrade at Yazoo Mills’ New Oxford facility provides greater efficiency by shredding waste faster and finer, which allows for tighter bales. This means that we can remove fewer bales from the machine, freeing up our shipping team for other duties. The upgrade also includes a new conveyor and control panel, which makes it easier to operate and maintain. This reduces frustration for Yazoo’s employees and saves the company money on maintenance costs.

At Yazoo, we produce over 4 million inches of tubing per day using 100% recycled paperboard. To maintain our industry leadership, we receive over 1 million pounds of recycled paperboard every week, which is equivalent to 26 truckloads per week and over 1,352 truckloads per year. There are 66 different sizes of recycled paperboard which allow us to custom-manufacture paper tubes and cores to meet the exact specifications of our growing customer base throughout various industries.

The upgrade is part of Yazoo Mills’ ongoing commitment to sustainability. Using 100% recycled paperboard in our eco-friendly tubes is a sustainable choice that helps us protect the environment. For every ton of recycled paperboard we use, we save 20 mature trees, 10,000 gallons of water, 5 cubic yards of landfill space, 5 barrels of oil, and 7,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity. 100% recycled paperboard is the most environmentally friendly packaging product available.
