Erica Alwine has spent her career helping people and making sure every detail is handled. Now, as a Logistics Assistant at Yazoo Mills, she uses her skills to make sure customers get their orders on time.
A Career Built on Service and Accuracy
Erica started out as a server in hospitality, where she learned how important good customer service is in any job. Later, she worked as a cycle counter in a logistics warehouse and became skilled at paying attention to details while managing inventory.
After getting her Dental Assisting and Radiology license, Erica worked at a dental office. She began as a dental assistant and later moved into management, where she handled financial records, inventory, scheduling for two locations, and payroll, all while improving her customer service skills. Most recently, she was a Shipping Coordinator for a chair manufacturer, where she learned more about warehouse logistics, including shipping rates, freight paperwork, and how regulations and international documents affect deliveries.
Getting Orders Where They Need to Go
At Yazoo Mills, Erica prepares shipping documents for outgoing orders and checks third-party paperwork for accuracy. She keeps customers informed on pickup and expected delivery dates, reviews freight invoices, and approves payments. She also helps organize truckload schedules and freight quotes, answers questions about delivery issues, and coordinates shipments from suppliers. For Erica, the goal is simple: “I strive to make sure all of our customers are taken care of by getting their freight out the door and into their hands as quickly and as efficiently as possible.”

Erica chose Yazoo because of its strong reputation for treating employees fairly and valuing their work. She feels motivated knowing she is helping customers, her team, and the company. She enjoys helping wherever she can and learning from different departments.
Erica expressed, “The collaboration here between departments is unlike anywhere else I have worked. In most places I have worked, you do your job, and it moves on to the next department. Here at Yazoo, multiple departments work together to track every step of the process from when the order is quoted until it reaches our customers’ hands. I love that each department works together and tries to learn from other departments to see how we can help each other better serve our customers.”
Erica is excited to learn more about Yazoo’s products and the many ways customers use them. She remarked, “I never knew paper tubes could be used for so many different things”.
Erica’s Core: Family, Community, and The Great Outdoors
When she’s not at work, Erica spends time with her children and volunteers at her church and at her kids’ school athletic department. She also supports the community through her charity motorcycle club, which organizes rides and events to raise money for people in need. Erica enjoys camping with her family at local campgrounds and on family-owned land. She also loves spoiling her Boston Terrier, Luna, with treats and snuggles.
Fun Facts about Erica
Erica’s husband, Cory, has been with Yazoo Mills for nearly 10 years. Their oldest son, Jayden, recently graduated from high school and now works at Yazoo Mills too.
