Getting to Know Mya Scott – A Harmonious Blend of Compassion and Customer Service

At Yazoo Mills, we pride ourselves on the people who make up our team — individuals who bring not only skill and dedication to the workplace, but also heart. This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Mya Scott, whose diverse background and vibrant spirit make her a standout addition to the Yazoo family.

From Stage Lights to Service

Before joining Yazoo Mills, Mya’s career was anything but ordinary. She worked as an Event Coordinator and Stage Performer during college, bringing creativity and joy to every performance. Later, she stepped into the world of healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Manager, where her compassion and leadership made a lasting impact.

Education That Resonates

Mya studied at the University of Trinidad & Tobago – National Academy for the Performing Arts, where she honed more than just musical skills. Her training emphasized understanding people — reading their emotional cues and responding with empathy. “That translates in a special way to Customer Service,” she says. “At the core of it, we’re meant to listen to or observe the customer’s needs, and do all that we can to meet them.”

Why Yazoo Mills?

When asked what led her to apply, Mya says it was Yazoo’s family-oriented culture. “I’ve always wanted to grow with a business — to build a career and become a part of the fabric, not just a name or number. Yazoo values everyone who comes through their doors, always.”

Focused on Growth

Currently, Mya is working on perfecting the skills she’s acquired so far. “Achieving this will put me in a much better position to bring value to an already excellent team,” she shares. Her dedication to both personal and professional development is truly inspiring.

What She Loves Most

Without hesitation, Mya says the best part about working at Yazoo is the people. “Everyone here shows you what it means to build with each other to maintain a healthy workplace.”

Fun Fact: Family Matters

You might be surprised to learn that Mya comes from a large Caribbean family. With 11 siblings, 15+ nieces and nephews, 35+ aunts and uncles, and 60+ cousins, she lovingly refers to them as “an army of humans.”

Life Outside of Work

When she’s not at Yazoo, Mya finds joy in singing at her church (and just singing in general!), kayaking, and baking sweet treats. Her creativity and zest for life extend well beyond the office.

We’re incredibly lucky to have Mya on the team. Her warmth, dedication, and unique background add depth and heart to everything she touches. Thank you, Mya, for being a part of what makes Yazoo Mills so special!
