At Yazoo, we continue to proudly support local charities and organizations in the communities where we all live and work. Contributing to organizations that are kid-oriented is a passion of Yazoo’s because we understand and recognize the importance of helping provide a future as well as learning resources for today’s generation.
This year, Yazoo donated $5,000 to TrueNorth Wellness Services’ Amazing Kids Club program. The Amazing Kids Club is a year-round, on-site therapeutic program for children and
adolescents from 2 to 21 years of age with Autism Spectrum Disorder or Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder. The program focuses on developing communication, socialization, and play skills in a less intense environment than one-on-one strategies. Additionally, the program is designed as either a stand-alone program or a supplement to other forms of treatment. Garrett Trout, CEO of TrueNorth Wellness Services, says “The program is a combination of behavioral and relationship therapy strategies and our Master’s Level clinicians design treatment plans to meet the developmental needs of each individual. Family involvement and service coordination are key components of our programs. We offer Pre-School and After School sessions,as well as an eleven-week specialized therapeutic summer day program.
The Amazing Kids Club program is currently in its 13th year and has grown substantially from serving 32 children during the first year to over 200 today. The opening of the new facility will eliminate the need for their current wait list by bringing the enrollment to over 300 children which will allow TrueNorth to continue meeting the growing need within the community.
Trout continues to say, “Yazoo Mills, Inc.’s donation to the Capital Campaign will not only allow us to serve more children in our Autism program, it will also allow us to expand mental health and substance abuse services to individuals in York and Adams Counties. Thanks again for your generous contribution.”
