When placing an order for any desired product, you find yourself anxiously awaiting its arrival on your door step, almost like Christmas time. During the waiting period, you question if your package will ever make it to your house (especially in today’s world… if you know, you know!), if it will be on time (the struggle is real) and the most important question of all – will it be damaged? Chances are, the packaging material used for shipping your purchase wasn’t strong enough and received some dents from not being packaged and/or handled properly. That’s where Yazoo Mills’ expertise and strong shipping tubes come into play, giving you peace of mind and your products protection!
At Yazoo, we take great pride in making sure we meet our customer’s paper tube requirements. We recognize that one size does not fit all, which is why we offer high-quality and extremely durable packaging and protection tubes made to fit each customer’s specifications. Our protection tubes are generally used to slip over expensive parts, threads, cylinders and other sensitive items to protect them during shipment. Our packaging tubes are commonly used to ship steel, aluminum, tooling, banners, vehicle parts, construction materials and much more.
No order is too big or too small for our company. We offer no minimums and ship orders within 48-hours; the fastest in the industry. With over 350 tooling options available and a wide variety of finishes, the possibilities are almost endless with Yazoo’s packaging and protection tubes.
Sweet summertime – ahh… the season that (most) people look forward to — Sun, warm temperatures, vacations, breaks from school, etc. But the heat and humidity that summer brings can be a game changer when it comes to paper products.
As the temperature in the air increases, so does its ability to retain moisture. When humidity levels increase, the fibers in the paper draw in moisture very quickly, resulting in expansion. For example, think about the doors in your house and how they seem to stick during the summertime. That’s because materials expand due to the humidity. The same happens with paper tubes and cores.
During summertime conditions, paper tubes and cores manufactured in high humidity can shrink drastically if an end-user puts them into an air-conditioned room with extremely low humidity. Humidity can weaken the tubes and cores which will then cause them to fail. If used in a timely manner, less moisture will affect the product. Paper tubes and cores should not be stored near any heating or cooling unit, in an air stream of heated or cooled air, or in the path of a humidifying stream of air. Knowing your storage environment is very critical.
Understanding how moisture and humidity affect paper tubes and cores are imperative for end-users as they are looking for products to have the best appearance and performance. To ensure optimum performance, control the relative humidity (R.H.) levels and temperature in the processing and storage environments.
Yazoo Mills continues to see growth and is expanding its Maintenance department with the hiring of Don Parks as Maintenance Supervisor.
Parks joins Yazoo Mills following a Maintenance Planner/Lead role at a local Agribusiness. His background in hydraulics, robotics, programming, planning, and electrical troubleshooting provides him the skillsets needed to expand the servicing of production machines further to minimize downtime. Parks will collaborate with his team and other equipment/facility maintenance departments and focus on implementing improvements to position Yazoo as the industry leader in manufacturing paper tubes and cores.
When asked why he applied to Yazoo, he replied “I applied to Yazoo because I knew the company would open up opportunities to me that I did not think would be open any time soon at my former employer. Yazoo always strives for more in every aspect – with its employees, customers, and facilities. They truly are a great company to work for!”
In his spare time, you can find Don spending time with his wife and four kids, watching his kids play baseball and softball, listening to audiobooks, learning to play new instruments, fishing, hiking, and playing video games with his kids.
A few fun facts about Parks:
• Can play guitar, piano, and bass and is learning to play the drums
• Attended college as a music major but dropped out because he couldn’t get over stage fright
• Makes his own arrows and shoots a recurve bow without sights
Welcome to the team, Don! We are excited to watch you hit the ground running and bring new, innovative ideas to our Maintenance department.
Quality is a word we are all very familiar with. A word that can prove many different meanings and be portrayed in many different fashions. Companies leverage their marketing efforts around the word ‘quality’ but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a part of their actual process. Today’s world is filled with endless varieties of products available with many companies vying for your money, so you may be wondering whether or not quality still matters and the answer is… YES, 100% YES.
We don’t just talk about quality here at Yazoo. We live, breathe, and manufacture it. We have a reputation for high-quality products that are manufactured to each customer’s specifications. Our highly-skilled team works together, day in and day out, to find innovative ways to manufacture our products more efficiently while maintaining a top-notch level of quality.
Regardless of what industry you’re in, customers aren’t going to choose you solely based on price but rather on quality. Consumers expect Yazoo to deliver on our promise of manufacturing high-quality paper tubes and cores and as a team, we always exceed that expectation. We provide a high level of confidence with every order that leaves our manufacturing floor.
Managing quality effectively is a crucial part of being a successful business. That’s just one reason why Yazoo has remained an industry leader for over 119 years.
Yazoo is proud to announce Kevin Boyer’s advancement to Electrical Controls and Automation Technician.
Boyer joined Yazoo’s Maintenance Department in 2018 as a Maintenance Mechanic. Within a year, he was quickly promoted to Maintenance Lead. Although Kevin has only been with Yazoo for three short years, his technical ability and innovative mindset has led him to this current promotion.
In his new position, his main focus will be the automation and electrical side of Maintenance. He will be working on various automation projects, updating and backing up current systems, helping maintenance with electrical needs and collaborating with his department to maintain equipment efficiency throughout the plant that leads to reducing machine down time and maintenance costs.
Why Yazoo? Boyer says “I like Yazoo’s willingness to invest in innovation which allows me to create new ways of doing things with the use of technology.”
In his spare time, you can find him spending time with his family, finding new trails to hike and reading. Fun fact – in 2020, Kevin read 64 (mostly nonfiction) books!
Congrats on your promotion, Kevin! We are excited to watch you grow and take Yazoo’s Maintenance Department to the next level!

Have you ever had that annoying time at the post office trying to find the right size box to ship your products in? You end up spending more money on a bigger box to fit your items in and then wonder if something will break/get ruined during shipment because of the extra space in the box you *didn’t* need. You’re not alone and there is an alternative solution (to boxes) to take your frustration away – shipping tubes!
There are many benefits to shipping your products in paper tubes. At Yazoo, we custom manufacture mailing and shipping tubes made to fit your specifications. Paper tubes allow you to ship products without having to pay for more than what you need (i.e. that extra space in the box), bringing your shipping cost down compared to a box. Yazoo’s mailing tubes are very durable, increasing the ability to protect what’s inside, and are designed to absorb impact rather than damage the appearance and products if you were to use a box or an envelope.
Paper tubes also offer a unique way to improve the aesthetics of your brand. It’s not every day that you get a product shipped to you in a tube so it will stand out from the sea of competition. Additionally, Yazoo offers cost-effecting branding options to market your company, adding a visual appeal for your consumers. And don’t be so quick to throw away the mailing tube you received your product in – be sure to reuse it as another mailing tube, storage tube, or for arts and crafts.
We also stock over 65 sizes of 100% recycled mailing tubes that ship for FREE the same day (if ordered by 4 pm EST). Whatever your needs are, we have you (and your products) covered!

We live in a world where we see celebrities or high-profile people getting custom clothes made, custom homes being built, custom cars being designed; the list goes on and on with the main focus being on the single word custom. The word “custom” usually tends to scare people away and typically their eyes (+ minds) see multiple dollar signs and excessive lead times that send you into the next year. However, custom shouldn’t be a scary word as it is meant to be tailored to be exactly what you want.
When looking to get something custom-made, keep in mind that not all products are made equally. You need to make sure that you do your research on the company you are looking at having to make custom products/items for you. When something is custom-made, you do not want to try to cut corners.
At Yazoo, we recognize that everyone needs something different – whether that be a specific I.D., wall thickness, length, etc. We manufacture our products to fit your specifications so you get exactly what you want and need. Not only do our products improve the way you do business, but they also provide peace of mind with our superior strength and top-notch quality, coupled with the fastest lead times in the industry. We also offer a variety of cost-effective custom capabilities to help your business grow. We help take the guessing game out of what you need. Our knowledgeable Sales team is made up of innovative thinkers + problem-solvers. We’re the paper tube + core experts… discover the difference with us!
