American-Made. High-Quality. Unparalleled Service.

When purchasing a product, do you ever find yourself looking at the material the product is made from?  How the quality of the products rates – does it fit your standards?  And then, do you find yourself searching the tag, label, etc. to see where the product was manufactured?  Do you look for products that are specifically made in the United States?
Let’s be honest – it’s becoming harder and harder to find products that are produced in the United States but it’s becoming more critically important to all Americans.

In today’s modern manufacturing, companies are outsourcing to other countries to cut down on their costs, which in return, typically brings down the quality and service of their products. However, that has not and will not ever be the case at Yazoo.  Our products have always been 100% American-made since 1902.  That’s over 115 years of manufacturing experience in the United States.  Our manufacturing facility, located in New Oxford, PA, continues to create more jobs within our community and offers economic growth opportunities for hard working, skilled employees.

We are proud to have our manufacturing facility located in Pennsylvania, which happens to be one of the top 25 states for manufacturing.  Over 15,000+ customers rely on Yazoo’s American-made paper tubes and cores.  With keeping our manufacturing in the United States, we are able to manufacture high-quality products, have the fastest turnaround time in the industry, and offer top-notch customer service to our customers.

A company that truly and genuinely cares for its employees is very hard to come by these days.  Sometimes, employers are only focused on getting a head of their competition while forgetting to put their employees first.  Even after 115 years, Yazoo continues to remain a team player for all of its employees.

We recognize that without great employees to produce products and service for our customers, we would have no business.  That’s why Yazoo treats every employee like family.  We offer healthcare, training, career advancement, and personal growth opportunities.  We want our employees to thrive within our company not only as individuals, but also as a team.

Yazoo has the utmost respect for our employees.  The thing that really differentiates ourselves from our competition is our people.  Our continued growth has not only been achieved by reinvesting in our facilities and our equipment, but also reinvesting in our people and making sure that they are getting the most out of working at Yazoo.  One of the many things we provide is leadership training for our employees.  This training helps create an even more positive working environment and helps our employees continue to be influential team players.

“To win in the market place, you must first win in the workplace.” – Doug Contant

“Teamwork is the foundation of success.” – Lou Holtz

Ever since the very beginning [115 years ago], Yazoo has always kept quality control as a top priority in the company.  We understand and realize that it’s not about the quantity that a customer orders but about the quality they receive with every single product they order.  From raw materials to finished products, we demand quality.  Quality, reliability, and consistency are a way of life at Yazoo.

All of our products are manufactured from 100% recycled paperboard which comes from the best-in-class mills in North America.  We hold all of our raw material suppliers to
very strict tolerances in order to produce high-quality, consistent products for our customers.

We have a quality control system in place for inspecting and testing of all raw materials before and during processing.  This system provides assurance that the materials continue to meet the physical, chemical, functional, visual, and dimensional requirements needed for the customer.  Our employees complete inspection checks and testing on all materials that are used to manufacture our products.  We also do testing on finished paper tubes and cores as well.  Our quality assurance streamlines production and helps ensure that the final products meet our quality criteria.  Our employees perform many extensive tests outlined in our Quality Assurance Manual.

A few benefits of quality control are: increased customer loyalty, ability to gain repeat business as well as new customers from referrals, strengthen market stance, reduction in production cost, encourage quality consciousness, and much more.

“Quality is not an act, it is a habit.”– Aristotle

“Quality is more important than quantity.  One home run is much better than two doubles.” – Steve Jobs

re-cy-cle – verb – convert (waste) into reusable material.

Our country has been focusing its recycling efforts more and more each year and thankfully, it has become a priority on most people’s list.  At Yazoo Mills, we recognize the important job we have to help keep our environment clean.

To create our sustainable packaging products, we only use 100% certified recycled paperboard and we have the paperwork to prove it.  We recycle all waste generated during our manufacturing process.  The process includes: shredding, baling, and shipping to a consuming recycle paper mill and then receive the recycled paperboard back.  North America recycles over 4.5 million tons of recovered fiber recycled into 100% recycled paperboard.

Did you know?

The amount of paper we throw away each year is enough to heat 50,000,000 homes for 20 years.
Approximately 1 billion trees worth of paper are thrown away every year in the U.S.
Each ton (2,000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4,000 kilowatts of energy, and 7,000 gallons of water.  This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60 pounds less of air pollution.

There is no other packaging product that is more environmentally sustainable than 100% recycled paperboard.  The important fact is that 100% recycled paperboard is truly 100% recycled, with no virgin fiber content.

“The greatest threat to our planet is believing someone else will save it.” – Robert Swan

Yazoo Mills will be making its first debut as an exhibitor at the IFAI Expo, the premier industrial fabrics expo in North America.  The event is organized by Industrial Fabrics Association International and will take place at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC, with the show floor open October 19-21, 2016.

With thousands of attendees and more than 400 exhibitors, IFAI Expo has been the foundation of providing the specialty fabrics industry a forum for commerce, networking, and knowledge.  With the addition of advanced textiles and an all-new shade area from 2015, the show continues to grow and service all aspects of the industry.

The expo will feature three special areas located on the show room floor; Specialty Fabrics, Advanced Textiles, and Shade & Weather Protection.  Yazoo will be located in the Advanced Textiles area at booth #A540.  We look forward to connecting and educating attendees on how Yazoo can satisfy your paper core needs.

We have been a longtime supporter and donor of countless non-profit organizations that raise money to find cures. Recently, we donated cores to AB Graphic, a leader in the label printing industry, who partnered up with other companies to help print stickers for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Labels and Labeling says “The donated stickers will be printed at Innovative Labeling Solutions in Ohio and Nosco in Illinois prior to the show. HP Indigo will handle some printing on site, and AB Graphic will convert the stickers on its Digicon Series 3 finishing unit that will be on display in their booth (#3223). More than 350,000 stickers will be printed and donated to the National MS Society. That’s 210,000 feet of material that normally would be thrown in the trash going to a good cause.

The bulk of the printed jobs will be 2-inch round stickers to be used at the organization’s Walk MS or Bike MS events, which happen in cities across the US. Rectangle runner’s bibs also will be printed.

The National MS Society is America’s leading charity organization dedicated to multiple sclerosis research, education and advocacy. The society’s fundraising events raise money to fund research, support groups and lobbying efforts.

AB Graphic and HP Indigo have partnered with Acpo, Actega, Rotometrics and Yazoo Mills for this cause, and all have donated materials or services.”

Multiple sclerosis, or MS, is a disease affecting the central nervous system. According to the National MS Society, MS is thought to be an immune-mediated disorder, in which the
immune system incorrectly attacks healthy tissue in the central nervous system.  The society says that MS affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide.

The concept to donate printed labels came from Tony Bell of AB Graphic and Alon Bar-Shany of HP. Choosing the National MS Society as the beneficiary was an idea came from AB Graphic
operations manager Tim Staples.

“We’ve never done anything on this scale and with a large nonprofit,” Staples said. “We wanted to do something where we weren’t throwing away 20,000 meters of material a day. So much of this material is gone to waste.”

Staples continued: “Most of it is going in the trash. If a nonprofit organization can use these products, then it’s a win-win-win. We get to show our equipment, it’s a tax deduction for manufacturers, and it’s a great relief on these nonprofits.”

The initiative also is a ‘personal crusade’ for Staples, who was diagnosed with MS in May after what he first believed were complications from Lasik eye surgery. He lost sight in half of his eye, and when he went back to the eye doctor, he was sent for a brain scan that detected MS.

After the diagnosis he turned to the MS Society for help in understanding the disease.

“There’s a lot of information out there, but the reputable information comes from the National MS Society,” he said.

MS can cause many symptoms.  Currently, there is no cure for MS, but treatments are available to reduce the number of relapses and delaying the progression of disability.”

Whenever there is a job vacancy at Yazoo Mills, we always open it up to current employees as well so they have the opportunity to grow into a new position within the company.  Recently,
Andrew Reynolds, who has been working at Yazoo for five years, transitioned into a new role as the Shipping Lead Person for our Shipping Department.

Andrew attended East Stroudsburg University and graduated in 2008 with his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  After a few years of being a substitute teacher in a very competitive job market, he decided that he needed a more permanent income which lead him to look for another job.  A friend of his mentioned that Yazoo was hiring at the time so he decided to give up substitute teaching for a steady income job with great benefits and opportunity to grow within the company.

He got his start in our Winding Department as a Machine Operator and eventually worked his way up to a Winding Floater.  He says “The thing I like most about Yazoo is their continuous growth, which provides a bright future for myself as well as my co-workers.”  When he’s not at work, you can find him on his family’s farm, helping his father raise beef cattle and
crops.  When he’s not on the farm, he likes to spend his extra time in the woods hunting and doing anything outdoors.

Congratulations on your promotion, Andrew.  We are proud to have you be a part of our talented team!
