Giving back and being very active in our community is extremely important to Yazoo Mills. The New Oxford community has shown tremendous support towards our business for over 34 years and we always like to return the favor. On October 25, 2014, the New Oxford Chamber of Commerce hosted their 7th annual Harvest Day Festival and Parade, with Yazoo Mills being the official Children’s Area sponsor.
Lorraine Nagy, President of the New Oxford Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Harvest Day Festival and Parade, said “On behalf of the New Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce, I want to sincerely thank Yazoo Mills for being a major sponsor of our 2014 Harvest Day Festival and Parade with their donation of $1,000. The event was a wonderful success and the children especially appreciated the balloons and inflatable play equipment provided through the support of Yazoo Mills. Yazoo Mills is truly community oriented and we know we can count on them to support our chamber events. It was a beautiful fall day, perfect weather for the children to enjoy the bounce house and other inflatables, as well as the face painting and pumpkin painting. There were also plenty of food and craft vendors and other vendor booths for people of all ages.”
Nagy goes on to say, “The vendors opened at 10 a.m. and children’s activities ran from 10:30 to 3 p.m. At 3 p.m., our Harvest Day parade kicked off down the streets of New Oxford. The vendors remained open until after the parade ended for last minute shoppers and spectators ready to grab a bite before they went home. The event ended around 4:30 p.m. and a good time was had by all. This event really did help bring the community together. While it is hard to estimate attendance, I would say between one and two thousand people attended. We really are grateful to have Yazoo Mills in New Oxford and appreciate all they do for the community.”
The town of New Oxford has evolved into the Antique’s Capital of South Central Pennsylvania and hosts a tradition of open-air commerce, always on the third Saturday in June. Originally started in 1956 as Merchants Day, the community of New Oxford and surrounding areas have been able enjoy and partake in the annual Antique Market and Craft Show and will be marking its 58th year on Saturday, June 21, 2014. This event will bring over 150 antique vendors, 50+ craft vendors, 12-15 food vendors, and thousands of attendees to the circle of New Oxford. In order to make sure that the show continues, Yazoo Mills has become a major Corporate Sponsor, donating $1,000.00 every year.
“With the rising costs of expenses, we decided to approach businesses looking to become a sponsor to help offset the costs and keep our entry fees low. Yazoo Mills has been very gracious and has been one of our Corporate Sponsors for the last several years. We are so very thankful for their support!” says Anne Zero, Co-Chair of the Antique Market & Craft Show.
