Exceptional employees are the core of a great business. They are the ones who seek out learning opportunities, find solutions to problems, provide feedback and take responsibility.  All of those great qualities mentioned, lead to career advancements.  Yazoo is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Tanya Berkey to the new role of Administrative Assistant.

Tanya, a 15-year Yazoo Mills veteran, started her career in shipping for a local architectural products business before joining our team as a shipping clerk and then order prep. If you’ve ever stopped by our New Oxford location, you’ve been greeted by Tanya’s smiling face, eager to meet you at the lobby reception window.

In her new role as Administrative Assistant, she is responsible for accounts payable and helps out wherever needed in the front office. She also fills in for shipping and order prep, too.  When asked about what she likes best about working at Yazoo, she said “It’s no secret – Yazoo compensates their employees very well and have wonderful benefits!  I also love the team atmosphere — everyone is willing to work together and help out however they can.”  In her spare time, you can find Tanya enjoying all things outdoors and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Congrats on your promotion, Tanya. We are lucky to have you!

If you’ve ever been to our New Oxford facility, you know that a smiling face is eager to greet you as soon as you walk into our lobby. We have a new face upfront and are excited to give a warm welcome to Cristie Shull as she joins the Yazoo team as our new Logistics Coordinator.

Before coming to Yazoo, Cristie previously worked as a Forester – practicing forest management techniques, implementing timber sales, and participating in controlled burning and fighting wild fires in the area. She also worked in the Treasury Department for a local manufacturer as well.  Cristie is a proud Penn State alum having received an Associate’s Degree in Forest Technology as well as receiving accounting certifications.

Shull’s current job duties within the role of Logistics Coordinator include processing paperwork for orders to be shipped (such as pack slips and bill of ladings), coordinating with customers and trucking companies to schedule pickups for orders that need to be shipped, and greet visitors as well as truck drivers as they enter our facility.

When asked what she likes most about working at Yazoo, she said “I enjoy the fast paced environment. The employees here are very nice and easy to work with as well.”  In her spare time, you can catch her in a gym or at a local competition as she is heavily involved in competitive weight training.  Some of her other hobbies include drawing and painting, brewing beer, hiking, fishing and many other outdoor activities.  She has two loving dogs named Cheyenne & Freya that also keep her busy.  Welcome to the team, Cristie.  We are glad to have you here!

We would like to give a warm welcome our newest team member, Melinda Cobb.  Melinda started at Yazoo Mills in May of 2016 and is currently our Operations/Logistics Assistant.  Before coming to Yazoo, she worked as an Auditor and Material Tech at a logistics company in Moline, IL.

What she likes most about working for Yazoo is the people.  She says “From my co-workers to my leaders, it is a very positive environment.  I have also gained some of the greatest friends already!”  Melinda goes on to say “Yazoo is simply a great place for me.  From the wonderful people to the opportunities it offers, I am here to stay.”

In her spare time, she likes to go on hikes, workout at the gym, and most importantly, spend time with her family.  She is a proud Mom of a beautiful, 15-month-old baby girl, who takes up much of her time.  She goes on to say “My daughter has the most irreplaceable personality and I put everything into being the best Mom I can be.  For me, being the best person I can be, regardless of where I am at, is very important.  I strive to feel reliable wherever I may be.”  Welcome to the team, Melinda.  We are glad that you are here!
