When you hear the word “roots” your mind most likely goes immediately to “tree roots.”  A tree’s roots are the anchor to the tree in the soil and help keep it straight and stable.  Tree roots are much like company roots in the sense that they help keep the company stable while they build and have continuous growth over many, many years.

Yazoo Mills has been around for over 110 years.  The company was established in 1902 in the heartland of Yazoo City, Mississippi (hence the company name).  We started out as a Yarn and Textile Mill and eventually made our way to our current location in New Oxford, Pennsylvania.  Even during the recession, Yazoo stayed true to their employees and didn’t lay a single person off.  While many companies were struggling, Yazoo was thriving and continued to build and strengthen a successful company.

At Yazoo, we are a family-owned and operated company.  We treat everyone like family.  Our employees are what keep our roots strong and everlasting as well as help the company
continue to build towards a successful future.  While our origins still remain in Yazoo City, Mississippi – we definitely do not forget where we came from and how far we have come since the start of the company.  Make sure to always remember where you came from and how far

Make sure to always remember where you came from and how far you have come — use the past to get you towards where you want to go in the future.

Anywhere we go, we see hundreds of companies’ names and logos being advertised on billboards, television commercials, race cars, and everywhere else in between.  We have become accustomed with recognizing logos without a company’s name being attached to it but very few people are able to explain the meaning and history behind a logo.

Even though our company has evolved through many changes since the early beginnings, it has always retained the name Yazoo Mills, derived from its original location in Yazoo City, Mississippi.  Our Lion and Lioness logo was trademarked in 1936 and 79 years later, the logo is still in use today, symbolizing Yazoo’s strength and reliability.

Yazoo has remained true to the meaning of our logo, even when the country hit hard times during the recession.  Our company’s strength and commitment to our customers shined through as we manufactured countless custom orders fit to each customer’s specifications, while other companies suffered many losses.

We put our consumers first.  We are dedicated to continue to fulfill our long-term commitment to deliver customer satisfaction and quality, American made products.  Over 15,000 customers in a variety of supply industries nationwide, depend on Yazoo’s stock and custom paper tubes and cores.  Businesses can always count on our strength, reliability, and commitment to get the job done on time, every time, guaranteed.

This 1959 White truck was the second truck purchased by Yazoo Mills.  The single axle, gas engine truck traveled throughout the Northeast making deliveries to customers.  Once taken off the road, it was used as a jockey tractor until 1979.  In 1980, the truck was restored and for a number of years was taken to truck shows and parades.

We get quite a few inquiries about our company name. The story behind the name is very simple. The company was founded as a yarn and textile mill in Yazoo City, Mississippi in 1902. Even though the company has evolved through many changes since those early beginnings, it has always retained the name Yazoo Mills, derived from its original location.
