In 2024, Yazoo Mills made a $20,000 donation to help UPMC Hanover purchase portable ED Transport Patient Monitors, essential tools that have enhanced patient care and efficiency within the Emergency Department.
These state-of-the-art monitors have been transformational for the UPMC Hanover team, allowing them to “meet patients where they are” in an extremely busy emergency environment. Their portability means staff can now obtain vitals anywhere—whether in the waiting room, triage area, or while patients are boarding—without needing to move them to fixed locations.
When combined with UPMC’s provider-in-triage initiatives, these monitors have allowed the team to:
- Expedite the evaluation of patients upon arrival
- Identify and prioritize the sickest patients quickly
- Begin necessary workups while patients are still waiting, reducing delays in care
In an emergency department where space and resources are often stretched, these monitors have streamlined care, improved response times, and enhanced both safety and the overall patient experience.
Late this summer, members of the Yazoo Mills team were invited by UPMC Hanover leadership for a check presentation, where they shared firsthand how these monitors have positively impacted patient outcomes and daily operations. Hearing their stories and seeing the difference this technology is making reaffirmed our belief in the power of local support and collaboration.
